Review Summary: Philips Sonicare EasyClean HX6511
If you’re new to the electronic toothbrush world and just want a good toothbrush that cleans and has a few nifty functions like the timers, then this is a good starting point. It’s slightly more expensive than comparable Oral-B toothbrushes but Philips’ have their own Sonicare technology that is supposed to be highly effective.
This toothbrush is excellent at its job but concerns have been raised about reliability. Philips does offer a 2 year guarantee though and most products should work fine for years. The best thing about this toothbrush is that it has different sized compatible heads.
Want a basic but effective electric toothbrush? You could do worse than this one.
THE GOOD
- Easy to use, simple and effective job
- Compatible with normal and small brush heads
- Timers to alert you how to pace and when to end brushing
THE BAD
- Some reports of unreliability and failure
In-Depth Review
About the Brand
Over one hundred years old, Philips is a Dutch company with a global reach and is one of the largest consumer electronics companies in the world. It is a household name and Philips products can be found in almost every Western home and for good reason too; they produce high quality products without huge prices.
Low on accessories, high on quality
The Philips Sonicare EasyClean electric toothbrush is near the lower end of the Sonicare range but that’s more to do with accessories and add-ons rather than quality. This toothbrush is really designed for those who want effective teeth cleaning without the clutter of the upper range toothbrushes and their endless technology.
Clinically proven to improve gum health in just two weeks, the Sonicare EasyClean doesn’t just brush your teeth; it works on and improves the health of the entire mouth. With two timers, the SmartTimer and the QuadPacer, this toothbrush tells you exactly how to pace your brushing for the most effective clean.
The QuadPacer, much like the SmartGuide in Oral-B toothbrushes, alerts you every thirty seconds that it’s time to move onto a new quadrant of your mouth. The SmartTimer then alerts you when two minutes are up, the ideal and minimum time dentists recommend you brush for.
Safe for use on braces, restorations and periodontal pockets
Safe for use on braces, restorations and periodontal pockets, the bristles even have a strip of reminder bristles that fade over time, alerting you when you need to change your brush head. Another great thing about Philips’ brush heads is that two different sizes are available to buy, normal size and a smaller size for orthodontic patients and those with smaller mouths. This is particularly good for those with smaller mouths, as a smaller brush head will be considerably more effective.
Twice as effective as a manual toothbrush
Twice as effective as regular manual brushes, it’s definitely worth investing in an electric toothbrush and this Philips Sonicare HX6511 EasyClean Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush is comparable to the Oral-B 2000 – both excellent, basic electric toothbrushes.
